She declared herself such a fan of ITV period drama Downton Abbey that she wanted a role in the next series.

And while Carol Vorderman might have narrowly missed out on a part in the show, the TV presenter was almost beside herself with excitement today as she paid a visit to the Downton set.

Carol, 50, tweeted followers a series of pictures from the set including her posing up with stars Dan Stevens and Allen Leech.

Carol Vorderman revealed yesterday that she suffered heart problems during 2010 - calling it "a horrible year".

The former Countdown maths whiz, who at 50 has just won the Rear of the Year award, told ITV1's Loose Women: "Last year wasn't a good one.

"I was poorly and my heart was going all over the place and I went to cardiology."

TV star Carol Vorderman has bagged herself a toyboy – a millionaire internet tycoon 13 years her junior.

Former Countdown host Carol, 50, met suave Mark Hadley six weeks ago at celeb hangout Scott’s in London’s Mayfair.

Mark, 37 – who made a fortune in the dotcom boom – got chatting to Carol during a meal out with her pals Ultimo lingerie boss Michelle Mone and X Factor vocal coach Yvie Burnett.
