I thought I might come out as younger in fat than I did.

When I was 39 I did a thorough detox, which helped me drop from a size 12 to a petite eight.

Since then, I have come to understand all food which makes me bloat and gain weight.

I'm now a size ten, but would like to lose more weight. I love bread, but have to avoid it, and pasta also makes me feel over-full.

I'll still swipe a chocolate bar if the children have left one lying around, but I wouldn't buy it for myself.

Carol Vorderman will make an emotional return to Channel 4 next weekend - despite publicly blasting some of the TV station's bosses when she quit Countdown.

Vorderman, 48, has agreed to take part in Chris Moyles' Quiz Night. It will be her first appearance on the channel since she was forced off Countdown at the end of last year over a pay row.

At the time, Carol was asked to take a 90 per cent pay cut and told the show could "survive without you".

Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman is to spill the beans about her life in a no-holds barred autobiography, it was announced today.

She's apparently written about everything from being a working mum to the controversial end of her 27-year stint presenting Countdown as the first woman to appear on Channel 4.

Mum of two Carol, 48, will also talk about the tragic death of her co-star Richard Whiteley.

The Mirror's Pride Of Britain presenter said: "I've never considered writing my autobiography before, probably because, by the yardstick of today, I am a very private person.
